The Githongo - AA coffee is sourced from 1,200 small-scale farmers in Kiambu, and is processed at the Githongo factory, one of the factories of the large Komothai FCS. Established in 1968, this factory is owned by local farmers and is known for its fertile red volcanic soil and some plots of loam and black cotton. The main source of income for the area is coffee cultivation, although some subsistence and dairy farming is also practiced. This has significantly improved the livelihoods of the community.
